If you search on twitter for hashtag #SaveTheHobbit you’re likely to come up with plenty of tweets on the subject. A Southampton pub has been threatened with legal action over the name of their pub “The Hobbit”. Saul Zaentz are threatening legal action.

This has not gone unnoticed, with a few celebs (Stephen Fry, Ian Mckellen – Gandalf) jumping on board to offer their support. The twitter account has just over 5000 followers, the facebook page has over 43,000 likes all in a couple of days.

We hope all goes well for the pub.

Superb example of utilising twitter and facebook to get a deep felt message out and encourage support for a cause.
